Who We Are
“I am the Vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me, and I in him, he bears much fruit; for apart from Me you can do nothing.” John 15:5 The Vine exists to connect the people of Houston County and the world to the True Vine, Jesus Christ, through worship, discipleship, fellowship, ministry, and missions.
The Vine will reach out with Christian love to the community, regardless of where they are on their spiritual journey… The Vine will preach the message of the Gospel in a relevant, applicable way… The Vine will worship the living God in Spirit and in Truth… The Vine will minister in the Houston County area to meet felt needs of those who cross our paths… The Vine will be a church “On Mission” seeking to take the Gospel throughout our community, state, and world… The Vine will be a church plant that will plant other churches in Houston County and throughout the world…
The Vine will seek to grow God’s kingdom at large. Whether in Houston County, Georgia, the United States, or continents and countries throughout the world, The Vine will proclaim the Gospel of Christ. We will strive to be a light on a hill and a salt that has not lost its saltiness. We will seek to begin partnerships through the North America Mission Board Church Planting Networks to aid other church plants in their first three years through prayer, finances, and short-term mission projects. We will also seek to partner with the International Mission Board to do the same with churches throughout the world. The Vine will be part of a picture, bigger than ourselves that seeks to proclaim God’s love and His Son Jesus Christ.
Our Beliefs
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons; the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven's glory and will return again to earth to reign as the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.
The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under His control daily.
You are made in the spiritual image of God to be like Him in character, you are the supreme object of God's creation and love. Although you have tremendous potential for good, you are marred by an attitude of disobedience towards God called "sin." This attitude separated you from God until the relationship is restored through a personal commitment to Jesus Christ.
Salvation is a gift from God to humanity. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God's offer of forgiveness can we be saved from sin's penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.
Humans were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.
Because God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ, the believer is secure in that salvation is for eternity. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives this security.
The Bible is God's Word to all people. Human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit wrote it. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because God inspires it, it is truth without any error.
